We are delighted to extend our congratulations and to welcome Dr. Tiffany Rau to the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology as an Adjunct Professor, bringing with her extensive leadership experience in Global Biotechnology.
Dr. Tiffany Rau obtained her BSE, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. Dr Tiffany Rau is an expert and leader in Research and Development, process development and commercialisation (manufacturing) of mammalian and microbial processes for production of biopharmaceuticals (API, MAbs, vaccines, therapeutic proteins, cell therapies, enzymes) cell and gene therapy and industrial biotechnology. Dr. Rau is Co-owner of Bio Pharma Technical Consulting and is an expert in Bioprocessing with a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Her international technical and managerial experience extends from development to post-commercial cGMP manufacturing.
Dr. Rau has been instrumental in designing and leading initiatives to bring Research and Development and manufacturing together to increase speed to market and minimise technology transfer challenges. Dr. Rau has been the advisor on over 100 different projects in the areas of process intensification, scale-up, variability reduction, and continuous improvement for both mammalian and microbial expression systems.
Dr. Rau also sits on the Scientific Advisory Board for the European Society of Biochemical Engineering Sciences (ESBES). Dr. Rau expressed her excitement on partnering with a world-renowned University: “I am delighted to be formally affiliated with University College Cork which has a long history of almost two centuries of academic excellence and a vibrant campus of highly engaged students. I am excited to be able to partner with the University on programmes such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Cell and Gene Therapy and other initiatives that will be impactful here in Ireland and globally to deliver life- improving and life-saving treatments to patients worldwide”.
